This course provides students with an introduction to the program, terminology, and functionality of Tableau. Students will learn how Tableau Desktop fits into the Tableau Platform, how to navigate the application, and how to perform basic tasks in Tableau. This course offers a high level overview of the process of connecting to data, creating visualizations, and building a dashboard.

Objectives:

Tour the Tableau interface including the Start Page, Data Source page, and Tableau workspace
Learn the basics of working with fields in Tableau
Create a data source by connecting to an Excel file
Build a bar chart and a cross tab in Tableau
Combine views onto a basic dashboard
Save a Tableau workbook
